Why We Give at Christ Community Church
We give to share in God’s ways.
We give because God is generous, and he calls us to be like him in this regard. Indeed, when we’re openhanded with the resources God provides, others are encouraged. “You will be enriched in every way to be generous in every way, which through us will produce thanksgiving to God” (2 Corinthians 9:11).
We give to share in God’s worship.
We give as a response of grateful worship for what God has freely done for us in Christ. Jesus instructed his disciples, “Freely you have received, now freely give” (Matthew 10:8). Consequently, we seek to give not reluctantly or under compulsion but cheerfully before God (2 Corinthians 9:7). It’s our privilege to give!
We give to share in God’s work.
We give in order to resource the mission of God through the various efforts of Christ Community Church. In doing so, we support the work of the ministries, the expenses of the church, the relief of the poor, and the spread of the gospel as we strive to honor the Lord with the “firstfruits” of our labor (Proverbs 3:9).
How We Give at Christ Community Church
We can give in person.
On Sunday mornings, we intentionally refrain from “passing the plate” in the hope that we better equate giving with an active response of worship to God. For this reason, the offering plates are located at the back of the sanctuary, and parishioners may place their gifts there as they come or go as a discreet act of worship. (This approach also keeps us a bit safer during the pandemic.)
