Frequently Asked Questions
If you’re on this page, it’s possible you’re looking for a church home. We’d love to have you be part of our fellowship! Whether you’re looking to better understand what you believe, or seeking a gospel-focused, grace-saturated church, feel free to explore who we are (and who we want to be). Then prayerfully consider connecting with us at Christ Community Church!
What time does the Sunday worship service start, and where should I go?
The Sunday morning worship service begins at 10:30 a.m., and we would love to see you there. Dech Chapel, where we worship, is located in the middle of the first floor. Go straight through the main entrance, or turn right when you get off the elevator if you access the building on the ground floor.
About 4-5 minutes before we begin, our pastor or another worship leader makes announcements for the church family, and then we are invited “set our minds on things above” (Colossians 3:2), enjoying the musical prelude while getting our hearts ready to meet with God in corporate worship.
Where do I park when I arrive at the church building?
Christ Community Church is blessed with an abundance of parking. Three lots and one section of street parking are available to accommodate your family’s needs, inclduing a convenience lot for the ederly and less ambulatory folks who join us.
Check out the maps on our Parking & Access page, which show parking options and access points in relation to the church building. The church building is located at 121 S. College Street (the corner of Route 501 and W. Park Avenue) in Myerstown, PA 17067. (Get Directions.)
What should I wear on Sunday mornings?
We hope you’ll feel comfortable and accepted whatever you may be wearing. What you’ll typically see in the sanctuary are people dressed in anything from jeans and a nice shirt to dresses and suit jackets. “Business casual” might be a good way to describe it, but nobody is fixated on clothing at Christ Community Church. The common thread is Jesus. That said, it is a worship service, so a certain degree of modesty is always appreciated.
What are your worship services like?
By this question, people usually want to know if we’re traditional or contemporary in our worship. Actually, it’s some of both. We call it “layered” or “ancient-future” worship, with an affection for classic expressions adapted for life in Century 21. We sing a mix of traditional hymns with an organ, as well as newer, theologically rich praise songs with light instrumentation.
We also spend some time listening to the Scriptures being read, and reciting some of them responsively as printed in the bulletin and projected onto the screen. Holy Communion is served seven times a year. In the end, we try to focus less on the “style” we use and more on the One we are worshipping.
What is the preaching like at Christ Community Church?
Our pastor preaches from the Scriptures each week, seeking to show how they reveal the heart of God. He calls his approach “engaging exposition” with real-life connections to our day. Indeed, Pastor Tim’s passion is to teach and preach the Scriptures in such a way that seekers might be captivated by the gracious character of Christ, and disciples might be transformed by the power of the Holy Spirit.
His calling is best summarized in the apostolic mandate: “Tell the people the full message of this new life” (Acts 5:20). His goal is to refresh believers, reach friends, and reflect Christ.
To make the most of your worship experience, consider bringing a Bible with you to follow along during the teaching. If you don’t have a Bible, that’s okay, too! Just ask us, and we’ll gladly give you a copy to keep.
Do you offer a nursery and children’s church during the Sunday service?
Yes! The children in our small but growing nursey are well cared for, and our children’s church is a highlight for many of our families.
We think it’s valuable for children to see other children, teens, and adults at worship, so our children’s church is held only during the sermon time each Sunday morning. Children ages 3 to 10 years old are dismissed just prior to the sermon for their own age-appropriate lesson.
Do you have assistive listening devices for those who need them?
Yes! Christ Community Church has several assistive listening devices available for those who are hard of hearing and need them during the worship service. They are available in the narthex. Please see our sound technician (or one of our ushers) before the service begins if you need help finding or operating a device.
Sanitizing pads are also available for those who need them. Please return the borrowed units after the service so they can be made available to other parishioners in future weeks.
What if I have more questions?
We may have left something out that’s important to you. If so, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with us by calling (717) 866-5353, or using the form on our Contact page. We’d be happy to answer your questions. We can’t wait to meet you!
